Hi, i am abhishek student of agriculture and i am going to discuss about the poor condition of farming in india..
india is the second largest country in the world producing agriculture product after china. India contribute 15% in the gdp. The arable land of india is much higher then the china. but still the production rate of the agriculture product is lower then china there are following points why indian farming is poor than foreign farming lets discuss
1. Lack of knowledge
The indian farmer have lack of knowledge about farming. Such as machinery seed rate n other fertilizer dozes. In india the rural area have lack of knowledge about farming and marketing.
The govt. has established krishi vigyaan kendr (KVK) . There are 668 kVKs in india. but acc. to survey :
- 60-70% farmer didnot contacted at any kisan centre.
- A recent government study estimated that 32 % of india's rural population is illiterate, compared to 15 percent in urban areas.
- 70% farmer never heard about direct cash transfer.
The farmer doesn't no know about the seed rate, and seed quality. Variety of seed. In rural area the farmer has follow the next farmer what he i growing and same insectiscide and pesticides.
2. Income :-
The farmer doesn't earn enough money from agriculture . Acc. to NSSO data, 6000 is 6% of a small farmer's annual income. The farmer quiting agriculture because of the income . The farmer doesn't get a proper price of his crop.
3. Less investment :-
Less investmnet also a region og poor farming.
china investing 7.86 billion dolar and india investing in agriculture 1.4 nillion dollar . The china agriculture output is 1,367 billion dollar and india agriculutre output is 407 billion dollar.
If the india also investing in agricultute so the output would be high.
4. Lack of machinery :-
The farmer can't afford the high quality machine for the agricuilture purpose because the price of the agriculture machinery is high. A small farmer can't afford the machinery. The govt. has also provide subsidies to farmer but that also not much helpfull to the small farmer. The govt. has more investment on agricultute instead of subsidies.
5. Storage and transportation:-
The farmer doesn't have enough space for storing agriculture product under shelter. The farmer doesn't know about the chemical are used for storing grain.
There are many issues and constraints with transportation ofagriculture produce. ... Seasonally blocked roads or slow and infrequent transportservices, along with poor storage, can lead to losses as certain produces such as milk, fresh vegetables, tea, deteriorate quickly over time.
